From image generation and video editing to writing assistance and audio enhancement, AI tools have become part of the modern creative process. Yet as AI becomes more common, a new challenge has emerged: the impact of being associated with AI, whether the content was actually created by AI or not.

Recently, a social media user noticed that a post from MrBeast appeared with an AI-generated content label. Whether the content itself was generated with AI is not the point. The larger issue is what happens when audiences see those labels and immediately make assumptions.

<picture></picture>

<g>

</g><polyline points="15 3 21 3 21 9"></polyline><polyline points="9 21 3 21 3 15"></polyline><line x1="21" x2="14" y1="3" y2="10"></line><line x1="3" x2="10" y1="21" y2="14"></line>

For many viewers, “Made With AI” carries a negative stigma. Some associate it with low-effort content, misinformation, fake images, or a lack of originality. As a result, creators can face criticism before people even engage with the content itself.

This creates an interesting dilemma. Technology platforms are trying to be transparent about the use of AI, but labels can sometimes influence public perception more than the content’s actual quality. A creator may spend hours planning, filming, editing, and producing a piece of content, only for viewers to dismiss it because an AI label appears next to it.

The concern extends beyond individual creators. Businesses, journalists, artists, and media organizations are increasingly experimenting with AI-assisted workflows. Many use AI as a tool rather than a replacement for human creativity. However, if audiences begin treating all AI involvement as a sign of lower quality or reduced authenticity, creators may become hesitant to disclose legitimate uses of the technology.

Transparency remains important. Audiences deserve to know when AI is being used in significant ways. At the same time, society must learn to distinguish between AI replacing human creativity and AI assisting human creativity.

The future of content will likely involve both people and technology working together. The question is not simply whether something was made with AI. The more important question is how it was made, how much human involvement was present, and whether the content provides genuine value.

As AI continues to evolve, creators may find that the greatest challenge is not the technology itself, but the public perception surrounding it. In a digital world where trust is everything, a simple label can sometimes shape a reputation before a story is even told.

Thanks for reading Thelen Media! playing chess against reality itself.

Reality doesn’t care about your dreams, your passion, or how badly you want something. Reality is the economy, changing algorithms, competition, public opinion, inflation, burnout, and the thousands of factors that influence whether a business succeeds or fails.

Every entrepreneur enters the game thinking they’re playing a simple match. They focus on the obvious moves directly in front of them. They post on social media, launch a product, build a website, and hope everything falls into place.

That’s 2D chess.

The entrepreneurs who survive learn to play 3D chess.

The Difference Between 2D and 3D Chess

A 2D entrepreneur reacts.

A 3D entrepreneur positions.

Most people spend their time reacting to circumstances. When engagement drops, they panic. When a competitor grows faster, they copy what they’re doing. When business slows down, they start questioning everything.

But successful entrepreneurs understand something different.

Every move creates future opportunities or future problems.

Instead of asking, “How do I win today?” they ask, “Where will this move put me three years from now?”

That’s 3D thinking.

The Chessboard Is Reality

The first lesson every entrepreneur must learn is that they do not control the board.

You don’t control:

The economy

Social media algorithms

Public opinion

Industry trends

Competition

Timing

You only control your moves.

Many businesses fail because they spend their energy trying to change the board instead of improving their strategy.

Reality isn’t fair, but it is predictable. The people who survive are the people who learn how the game works.

Your Business Pieces

Every piece on a chessboard has a purpose. The same is true in business.

The King: Your Vision

Without the king, the game is over.

Your vision is the reason you started.

It is your mission, your values, and the long-term impact you want to make.

Businesses that exist only to make money eventually lose direction. Businesses that are built around a meaningful vision can survive difficult seasons because they know what they’re fighting for.

Protect your vision at all costs.

The Queen: Attention

The queen is the most powerful piece on the board.

In today’s world, attention is one of the most valuable assets you can possess.

Attention comes through:

Social media

Storytelling

Branding

Podcasts

Video content

Newsletters

Public speaking

Many entrepreneurs have incredible products but fail because nobody knows they exist.

Attention matters.

But attention without value is temporary.

A viral moment may get people to notice you, but only quality will keep them around.

The Rooks: Reliability and Structure

Rooks are stable, dependable, and strong.

This represents the systems behind your business.

Reliability means showing up consistently. It means delivering on your promises. It means creating processes that continue working even when motivation disappears.

Many businesses are built on hype.

Very few are built on structure.

Structure is what survives when excitement fades.

The Bishops: Relationships

Bishops move in ways many people overlook.

Relationships work the same way.

Business is not just about what you know. It is also about who knows you.

Partnerships, collaborations, mentors, customers, and community connections often open doors that talent alone cannot.

The strongest entrepreneurs understand that relationships are not shortcuts. They are investments.

The Knights: Creativity

Knights don’t move like anything else on the board.

That’s what makes them dangerous.

Creativity allows entrepreneurs to find opportunities where others see obstacles.

It allows you to market differently, communicate differently, and solve problems differently.

In a crowded world, creativity often becomes your competitive advantage.

The Pawns: Daily Habits

Nobody talks about the pawns.

Yet championships are won because of them.

Pawns represent the small, daily actions that compound over time.

A single social media post.

A conversation with a customer.

An extra hour spent improving your skills.

One article.

One podcast episode.

One business connection.

Small moves seem insignificant until you realize they are building momentum.

The entrepreneurs who win are rarely the ones who make one massive move.

They are the ones who make thousands of small moves consistently.

The Challenge Facing Our Generation

Our generation is growing up in the middle of an attention war.

Every day we are competing against distractions, comparison, entertainment, and endless streams of content.

We have been taught to expect immediate results.

Immediate growth.

Immediate success.

Immediate recognition.

But entrepreneurship doesn’t work that way.

Success is often invisible for a long time.

The late nights are invisible.

The failures are invisible.

The sacrifices are invisible.

What people see is the breakthrough.

What they don’t see is the years spent building toward it.

Becoming a 3D Entrepreneur

A 2D entrepreneur thinks about today.

A 3D entrepreneur thinks about the future.

A 2D entrepreneur chases trends.

A 3D entrepreneur builds assets.

A 2D entrepreneur seeks attention.

A 3D entrepreneur earns trust.

A 2D entrepreneur focuses on winning the next move.

A 3D entrepreneur focuses on winning the game.

The businesses that last understand that reputation compounds. Trust compounds. Relationships compound. Skills compound.

The goal isn’t to go viral.

The goal is to become undeniable.

Final Thoughts

In chess, losing a piece doesn’t mean losing the game.

The same is true in business.

You will experience setbacks.

You will make mistakes.

You will lose opportunities.

You will face challenges you never expected.

But the entrepreneurs who survive are not always the smartest, richest, or most talented.

They’re the ones who adapt.

Most people are playing checkers with their future.

Learn to play 3D chess with reality.

Because reality is undefeated.

But if you learn the board, think long-term, and move with purpose, you’ll give yourself the best chance to win.

Thanks for reading Thelen Media! it’s through political conflict.

And teenagers know it.

A generation raised on algorithms has learned that outrage spreads faster than positivity. Young creators are discovering that the quickest way to build an audience is to take a side, make bold statements, and provoke reactions. Whether they fully believe what they are saying or not almost becomes irrelevant. The engagement is what matters.

The modern internet rewards emotional intensity.

Social media platforms are designed around interaction. Every comment, argument, repost, and stitched response tells the algorithm that content is “important.” The problem is that calm and reasonable discussions rarely generate the same numbers as anger and controversy. As a result, the most extreme voices often rise to the top.

For teenagers growing up online, this creates a dangerous cycle.

Many young people no longer see politics as a serious responsibility or a topic requiring research and understanding. Instead, politics becomes content. It becomes branding. It becomes entertainment. People choose sides the same way previous generations chose favorite sports teams or music artists.

The consequences are already visible.

Friendships are being damaged over online opinions. Students are becoming afraid to speak honestly unless they know their views match the majority around them. Some teens feel pressured to adopt louder and more radical opinions simply because moderate voices disappear in algorithm driven spaces.

Social media has transformed disagreement into performance.

Instead of conversations, we now see debates designed for clips and reactions. Instead of listening, people wait for moments to “win.” The goal is no longer understanding; it is visibility.

And visibility pays.

Views become followers. Followers become sponsorships. Sponsorships become income. For many young creators, controversy is not just expression anymore; it is strategy. Political content often grows faster because it guarantees emotional responses, and emotional responses keep people watching.

This affects more than just online culture. It affects the emotional environment of an entire generation.

Young people are constantly exposed to anger, fear, panic, and division every time they open their phones. Many teens spend hours every day consuming content centered around conflict. Over time, this shapes how they see the world. It can make society appear more hostile, more divided, and more hopeless than it actually is.

A generation that is constantly told to be angry will eventually struggle to find peace.

That does not mean politics should disappear from social media. Political discussion matters. Important conversations need to happen, especially among younger generations. But there is a difference between informed discussion and algorithmic outrage.

Right now, the internet often rewards the loudest voice instead of the wisest one.

The challenge for this generation is learning how to think independently in a world designed to manipulate attention. The algorithm profits from division, but real life suffers from it.

Maybe the real rebellion today is not becoming louder.

Maybe it is learning how to stay thoughtful in a culture that rewards outrage.

Maybe it is choosing understanding over virality.

And maybe the most important question young people should ask themselves is this:

If social media stopped rewarding political outrage tomorrow, how many influencers would still believe what they are saying?

Thanks for reading, if you have anything to share please let me know! The world constantly tells us to chase success, possessions, approval, and distractions, yet so many people still feel empty. Becoming “formed by hope” means allowing God to shape you into someone who lives with peace, purpose, and love even in difficult moments.

These are four steps that can help guide that journey.

1. Let Go of Everything

So much of what we hold onto on earth will never follow us into heaven.

Our possessions, status, worries, fears, grudges, and sins cannot go where God is calling us. Many times, the reason we feel spiritually exhausted is because we are trying to carry things that were never meant to define us in the first place.

Letting go does not mean giving up on life. It means surrendering control and trusting that everything is in God’s hands.

When you stop clinging to the world so tightly, you create room for peace. You begin to understand that your identity is not built on what you own or what others think about you, but on who God created you to be.

Become one with Him, and allow Him to guide your path.

2. Fix Your Relationships

Healing relationships matters.

Your relationship with God, your family, your friends, and even yourself all shape the way you move through life. Sometimes the smallest unresolved conflict can quietly weigh on your heart for years.

Forgiveness does not always mean agreeing with someone. It does not mean pretending pain never happened. But hate only creates more darkness within us.

You can disagree with someone without carrying bitterness toward them.

The more peace you create in your relationships, the more room hope has to grow. God calls us to love others because love transforms both the giver and the receiver.

Do not let pride, anger, or fear keep you from becoming the person you are meant to be.

3. Pray, Reflect, and Find Peace

The world is loud.

There are distractions everywhere pulling our minds in different directions, making it difficult to hear God’s voice. That is why prayer, reflection, and meditation matter so deeply.

Spend time with God.

Sit in silence sometimes. Reflect on your life. Be honest about your struggles, your fears, and your hopes. Allow yourself to be still enough to listen.

Peace does not come from having a perfect life. Peace comes from knowing God is with you through every part of it.

The more time you spend rooted in prayer and reflection, the more you become the person God created you to be.

4. Be Yourself and Spread Hope

You may never fully realize how much your presence can impact another person.

Many people are walking through life feeling unseen, unloved, and alone. A simple conversation, encouragement, or act of kindness can completely change someone’s direction.

Hope spreads through people.

Being there for others not only strengthens them, but it strengthens you too. It reminds you that your life has meaning and purpose beyond yourself.

Never believe the lie that you are alone. God is always with you.

And sometimes, you are the person God is calling to be there for someone else.

One act of love can change the course of history in ways you may never see.

Become the light someone else needs.

Become formed by hope.

If you want to see more content and get more information on Joshua Thelen’s content just reach length="0" type="image/jpeg"/>

This week, I had the opportunity to travel to Milwaukee for a mission with Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America. What began as a long and exhausting trip quickly became one of the most meaningful and impactful experiences I have had in recent years.

The journey itself was memorable from the start. I flew with United Airlines, and due to severe storms between Chicago and Pittsburgh, our flight experienced repeated delays. What was supposed to be a 2 PM departure ultimately turned into a 10 PM takeoff.

Despite the frustration and exhaustion that came with the delays, the unexpected time at the airport gave me the opportunity to meet several of the other missionaries I would be serving alongside throughout the week. Those hours of waiting turned into conversations, laughter, and the beginning of friendships that would continue to grow over the course of the mission.

After finally landing, we were picked up and driven to Milwaukee, though not before making a humorous late-night McDonald’s stop along the way 😂. By the time we arrived at the hotel, it was around 2:30 in the morning. Only a few hours later, we were back up for training and preparation for the days ahead.

The following morning, everyone was assigned to teams and vans. In total, there were roughly eight vans, each filled with volunteers who would spend the day going door-to-door speaking with voters about pro-life issues and candidates who support those values.

To be honest, I was initially nervous.

I have always struggled with approaching new people and starting conversations with complete strangers. However, after knocking on the first few doors, that fear began to disappear. I quickly realized that this experience was about something far greater than my own comfort level.

I felt a deep sense of purpose knowing that I was advocating for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Throughout the week, I encountered a wide range of reactions. Some individuals strongly disagreed with our message, while others were incredibly encouraging and grateful to see young people willing to stand publicly for their convictions.

One conversation in particular left a lasting impression on me.

I spoke with a woman who identified herself as politically liberal and shared that she was currently pregnant and considering abortion. We discussed fetal development, the realities of abortion procedures, the emotional impact abortion can have on mothers, and the support resources available for women facing difficult circumstances.

As the conversation continued, her perspective began to shift. She admitted that no one had ever fully explained the realities of abortion to her before. She acknowledged that she already understood, deep down, that the unborn child was a human life.

By the end of our conversation, she asked for more information and resources.

That moment reminded me of the importance of respectful dialogue and genuine human connection. Meaningful conversations rooted in compassion, honesty, and understanding; have the power to change hearts and perspectives in ways arguments alone often cannot.

Each day, our teams returned to the hotel around 7 PM after hours of canvassing neighborhoods throughout the city. I personally knocked on approximately 350 doors each day, though many others exceeded even that number.

The work was physically exhausting, but the relationships formed throughout the week made every long day worthwhile.

Rather than immediately going to sleep after returning each evening, many of us spent additional time together at the hotel; sharing stories from the day, discussing faith and life, working out in the gym, and building friendships that extended beyond the mission itself. In one memorable moment, I managed to strain a muscle attempting to curl a 50-pound dumbbell, which didn’t really help my already numb arm due to carrying fliers to put on doors 😂

Although sleep was limited throughout the trip, the experience created a sense of unity and purpose that made the exhaustion seem insignificant in comparison.

Over the course of those few days, strangers became close friends. We shared conversations, prayers, encouragement, and a common mission. Before leaving Milwaukee, many of us exchanged contact information with hopes of serving together again in the future.

This mission reminded me that meaningful change often begins with simple human interaction; a conversation at a front door, a willingness to listen, and the courage to speak with conviction and compassion.

More than anything, the week reinforced the importance of standing for what you believe in while approaching others with dignity, empathy, and respect.

If you want to hear more about SBA experiences or to join me on another SBA mission, you can find me length="0" type="image/jpeg"/>

There are ideas you build for business, and there are ideas you build because you can’t not build them.

Thelen Audio is the second kind.

This didn’t start as a company plan or a branding exercise. It started with a realization: sound is one of the most overlooked parts of communication, even though it shapes how people feel everything.

You can have strong visuals, a powerful message, even a good story; but if the audio is weak, inconsistent, or careless, the impact drops instantly. People may not always notice it consciously, but they feel it. And once you hear that gap, you can’t unhear it.

That’s what pushed me to start this.

I didn’t want audio to be treated like an afterthought anymore. I wanted it to be intentional.

For me, Thelen Audio represents more than production or editing. It represents clarity. It represents taking something that is often random or rushed and turning it into something structured, consistent, and meaningful.

There’s something powerful about that transformation. Taking raw sound, voices, noise, music, atmosphere, and shaping it into something that actually carries a message instead of distracting from it.

That’s what I care about.

Not just making things sound “better,” but making them sound right. Aligned. Honest. Clear.

I also started Thelen Audio because I kept seeing creators, speakers, and organizations with something important to say; but their message was getting lost in the delivery. Not because the message wasn’t strong, but because the sound didn’t support it.

That gap matters more than people think.

Because in a world where attention is limited, how something sounds often decides whether people stay or leave.

But beyond all of that, there’s a personal side to it too.

This is about building something that reflects how I see communication itself: not just as information, but as experience. Something that should be felt, not just heard.

Thelen Audio is my way of helping people bridge that gap; between what they mean and what others actually receive.

And if I had to put it simply, it comes down to this:

I started Thelen Audio because I believe good sound doesn’t just support a message; it carries it.

And when that happens, people don’t just hear you.

They understand you.

Hope in Action

What It Looks Like When Community Actually Shows Up

Joshua Thelen

Hope is one of those words that can start to feel abstract if it stays only in language.

People say it. People post it. People write about it.

But hope becomes real when it shows up in action.

Hope looks like someone sitting down next to a person who’s been alone for a while and actually starting a conversation; not out of obligation, but out of care.

Hope looks like remembering someone’s name after meeting them once.

Hope looks like creating spaces where people don’t feel like they have to be “on” all the time just to belong.

Hope looks like consistency; showing up even when it would be easier not to.

At Formed by Hope, this is the kind of culture we want to build. Not just ideas about community, but actual moments of it.

That might look like campus gatherings where conversation matters more than attendance. It might look like events that are small on purpose, so people don’t get lost in the crowd. It might look like content that doesn’t just inform, but invites people into something real.

And while this is still growing, the vision is clear: to create environments where people feel seen, valued, and included; not as a concept, but in practice.

Hope is not passive.

It doesn’t wait for perfect conditions.

It moves toward people.

And every time someone chooses to show up for another person, even in a small way, hope becomes a little more real in that moment.

That’s what we’re building toward.

Not a brand. Not just a platform.

A way of being present with people in a world that often isn’t.

Because hope isn’t just something we talk about.

It’s something we live.

The State of Campus Life

What Students Are Really Struggling With Right Now

Joshua Thelen

Walk across almost any college campus and you’ll see energy everywhere; students moving between classes, conversations happening in groups, events being promoted, schedules packed.

But if you look a little closer, you’ll notice something else too.

A lot of students are carrying things quietly.

There’s a difference between being surrounded by people and actually being known by them.

Many students today are dealing with stress that doesn’t shut off after class. Pressure to perform academically. Pressure to figure out the future. Pressure to stay socially connected. And underneath all of that, something even harder to name: a lack of real grounding.

Loneliness doesn’t always look like isolation anymore. Sometimes it looks like being constantly busy but still feeling empty. Sometimes it looks like laughing with people all day but feeling completely unknown at night.

A big issue is that a lot of campus life is built around activity; but not necessarily connection.

We have events, clubs, schedules, meetings, and group chats. But fewer spaces where people can be honest without feeling like they’re falling behind or being judged. Fewer spaces where someone can say, “I’m not doing okay,” and actually be met with presence instead of distance.

There’s also a growing identity struggle among students. Not just “What am I going to do after college?” but “Who am I right now?” and “What actually gives my life meaning?”

These are not small questions. And they’re not rare questions either.

This is the environment Formed by Hope is stepping into.

Not to criticize campus life, but to acknowledge what’s missing: depth, presence, and real human connection that doesn’t depend on performance.

Because when people are known, they don’t just survive campus life; they actually start to live it.

And that changes everything.
<p class="button-wrapper" data-attrs="{"url":"%%dm_url%%","text":"Message more connected than ever, yet more disconnected than we’ve ever been.

We scroll, we text, we attend events, we sit in classrooms full of people—and still, many of us feel unseen. Not just lonely in the surface-level sense, but disconnected in a deeper way. Disconnected from purpose. Disconnected from real community. Disconnected from hope that feels tangible.

Formed by Hope exists in response to that reality.

This isn’t just a content page or an organization idea. It’s a mission shaped by a simple but serious question:

If not us, then who?

If the people around us are struggling in silence, who steps in? If campus life feels empty despite being full, who creates something real? If hope feels distant, who helps form it in everyday life?

Formed by Hope is built on the belief that hope is not just something you find—it’s something that is formed through action, presence, and relationships.

That means showing up.
That means listening when it’s inconvenient.
That means building community that goes deeper than surface-level interaction.
That means creating spaces where people don’t have to perform to belong.

We want to engage campus life, social media, events, and ministry—but most importantly, we want to focus on human connection that actually means something.

Because hope doesn’t grow in isolation. It grows in community.

And if we’re going to talk about hope, it has to be more than a concept.

It has to be something lived.
<p class="button-wrapper"
